USDOJ Clears RFID Patent Licensing Group
The U.S. Department of Justice announced on October 21, 2008 that it will not challenge a proposal by a consortium of companies to jointly license patents needed to comply with standards for ultra high frequency radio frequency identification (UHF RFID) technology. UHF RFID is a type of automatic identification and data capture technology, which can be used to identify objects automatically by using radio frequency waves to transmit and read information stored in an integrated circuit (or chip) on a label. Read the Response to RFID Consortium LLC's Request for Business Review Letter, and the Antitrust Guidelines for the Licensing of Intellectual Property issued by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission on April 6, 1995.
