PTOS Looking for Examiners to Host International Scholars

The International Relations Committee of the Patent and Trademark Office Society (PTOS)is calling Trademark and Patent examiners to consider becoming a mentor/host to one of thirty-six visiting international scholars.

This is a tremendous opportunity not only to welcome our international colleagues, but also to learn about the jobs and lives of other Patent and Trademark professionals and to have lots of fun while doing it.These distinguished scholars occupy a broad range of positions from Director to Examiner in both Patent and Trademark Offices and are from such diverse nations as Egypt, Jordan, Yemen, Bahrain, Turkey, Lebanon, Palestinian Authority, etc.

Scholars will visit for approximately two weeks, and the program will run from April 18th through April 29th, to study aspects of our Patent and Trademark system. During this period, mentors will participate with scholars in group activities and be available to their own scholar for individual assistance and hospitality. Specific group events include a luncheon reception with Patent and Trademark Administrators and Directors on the first day. Other events include a Pot Luck, an Ice Cream Social, a Smithsonian Museum trip, a trip to the Kennedy Center and a Jazz and Dinner outing in Georgetown. At each of these events, you will get to meet all of the attending scholars.

As space is limited, please contact and/or direct questions to Pierre Vital (571) 272-4215 via phone or email as soon as possible.
