According to Julia Deboys, "By constructing a decision tree, it is possible to document how the search was carried out, that is which pathways have been chosen over others. This could be a useful tool to assist with discussions on search methods and resources, for instance in company meetings, or for training or review purposes. The outcome of the search, based on that decision pathway, may determine the robustness of a legal decision that is made subsequently."
