ICC Launches BASCAP Projects
At a working meeting held at International Chamber of Commerce's headquarters in Paris on March 9, 2005, executives specializing in intellectual property protection from more than 50 companies and associations pooled their knowledge to devise joint strategies and hammered out the details of four new Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy ("BASCAP") projects. The projects include:
- A website that will serve as an information clearinghouse to connect individual organizations' strategies and facilitate networking;
- Brochures to emphasize the important role that is played by intellectual property and the enforcement of IP rights in our knowledge-based world economy
- A compendium of real-life case studies illustrating both the positive aspects of IP protection and negative impact of IP theft;
- A set of indices mapping and ranking the state of IP enforcement difficulties and achievements in countries around the world.
