NPR Reports on the USPTO Backlog

Click here for National Public Radio's November 30, 2004 "Marketplace Morning Report" on Congress giving the U.S. patent office some badly-needed help - 900 new employees to deal with a huge backlog. Then, commentator Kenneth Cukier says the patent system needs a major overhaul. He says the current system is blocking innovation and causing lawsuits and chaos.

Thanks to Promote the Progress for spotting this item and noting that it was "too bad NPR missed the hot issue of fee diversion. The patent fees story starts at about the 4:30 mark in the audio file on the linked page."
