AIPLA Reports New Copyright Legislation

The December 9, 2004 issue of AIPLA Reports (subscription required) includes information on Pub. L. 108-419 (H.R. 1417), enacted on November 30, 2004, that will replace copyright arbitration royalty panels with Copyright Royalty Judges for determining royalty rates and distributions under the copyright compulsory licenses. The President’s December 8, 2004 signature of the omnibus appropriations also reauthorized the satellite compulsory license under Section 119 of the Copyright Act, due to expire December 31, 2004.
