EU Software Patent Directive Update

ROCARD

According to an October 5, 2004 report from the IDG News Service, the European Parliament has named former French Prime Minister Michel Rocard (above) to respond to the Competitiveness Council's position favoring the proposed software patents directive.  Rocard has reportedly declared himself a "supporter of free software," saying that "the patentability of software is likely to create a terrifying financial and legal threat, weighing down on software creators."
