Nine-Month Effective Quiet Title Period for U.S. Patent Assignments
According to an article in the July 2004 issue of I/P Today, any opinion letter relating to title needs to contain qualifying language warning the reader not only of the three-month statutory quiet title period in 35 USC Sec. 261 but also of the (current 6-month) recordation backlog for paper-filed documents.
